Another way Global IP is connecting to – and investing in – our local community is this:  we were honored to be the event sponsor for the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont’s Homecoming event for 2012.  Tremont invests heavily in providing students of all ages the opportunity to come to the Great Smoky Mountains and learn about the flora and fauna indigenous to East Tennessee.  These experiences enrich the student’s knowledge base, such that some of them will grow up to become the next generation of field researchers, lab researchers, teachers, engineers, innovators and creative arts professionals.  We were delighted to support Tremont in this way, and look forward to future collaborative opportunities to showcase all the Great Smoky Mountains have to offer.

Yes, it’s true – Esther is heading to London, for both business and for the dressage events at the 2012 Olympics. GO, USA!!!!!

She was a keynote guest lecturer for the GSMIT “Girls in Science” program.  Over twenty rising eight-graders from across the South attended the Girls in Science program this year; each year the program includes instructional hikes, experiments, crafts, swimming and a host of other fun and educational outdoor activities for young ladies.  Esther joined the girls, their leaders, and other naturalists on two hikes, and then gave an informal talk to the girls on how science encompasses everything from field study to patented products.  She introduced the girls to the world of intellectual property – copyrights, trademarks, patents, licensing, and encouraged these young ladies to think “outside the box” with respect to all the available career paths they can select based on a love of science, technology, and the outdoors, from being a field researcher to being an intellectual property attorney!  It was great fun!  Global IP has become one of GSMIT’s signature sponsors, and we are delighted to support the GSMIT in its role of helping tomorrow’s leaders understand the natural world around them!
