History

The company’s founder, Esther Roberts Bell, enjoyed a first career as a professional pianist, music professor, and composer, prior to attending law school.  Along with a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music, both in Piano Pedagogy and Literature, Ms. Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a B.A. in Botany.  Upon receiving her law degree, she began her legal career as a Patent Attorney for the United States Department of Energy (DOE).  She provided IP legal support to the Savannah River National Laboratory in Aiken, South Carolina, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex, also in Oak Ridge.  She also served as DOE Counsel in personnel security hearings, both classified and unclassified, in various DOE plants around the United States and DOE Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

After ten years with DOE, Ms. Bell moved into private practice with an intellectual property firm, where she soon realized she wanted to establish a new type of IP law firm – one that is responsive to today’s creative client.  Global IP focuses on helping every client, whether individual or corporation, maximize the value of their IP portfolio by supporting their creativity with sound legal advice.

Esther Roberts Bell is a lifelong equestrian and animal advocate. Lady Grace, a registered American Indian Horse, shares Starlight Farm with two other horses, four housecats, nine barn cats, and two dogs.
